Valentine’s Day Inspiration

With less than a month to go until the same-sex marriage bill comes into effect in England and Wales, and Scotland having become the latest state to legalise same-sex marriages, it feels as though Valentine’s Day this year is all about celebrating all forms of love in whatever way suits you best.

When Google changed its homepage to a rainbow banner to mark the start of the Winter Olympics and Fetcham Park’s recent stand at the inaugural One Love Wedding Show, it’s safe to say that we’re ecstatic that love of all kinds is being recognised globally, culturally and legally in the 21st Century.

With that in mind, we’ve been squirreling away some of our favourite suppliers who have got some Valentines magic up their sleeves for you this year. Banish any thought you may have had of picking up an emergency box of chocolates from the petrol station on your way home and make the most of this beautiful lot…

Cutture Valentines Collection

When it comes to loved-up stationery, your significant other will definitely fall head-over-heels for a card from Cutture’s Valentines Collection. Exquisite lasercut details, luxurious card stock and a choice of pale pink cranberry or sexy hot pink will definitely make your mantelpiece a prettier place this Valentine’s Day.

If it’s flowers that you’re after and you happen to be in London town, you’d be a fool not to head for one of the two By Appointment Only Design pop-up shops at Browns boutiques. Following on from their popularity last year, Team BAOD will be manning kiosks at 27 South Molton Street and 60 Sloane Street, as well as their two normal shops at 38 Chiltern Street and the Corinthia Hotel to bedeck you in the most beautiful of blooms. Laura was the lucky recipient of a BAOD heart not so long ago and can vouch for their opulence!

Wedding planners Snapdragon Parties might be your next port of call to source your bubbles for Friday evening. They are running a competition to win a magnum of champagne and all you have to do is follow them on Twitter (@SnapdragonGroup) and tweet them your most romantic moment for a chance to win.

Should you find yourself not quite lucky enough to win a whole magnum, you can always keep your choice of fizz local and British with Nyetimber. Based in West Sussex, you can rest assured of the provenance of your sparkling wine as you sip your way through a romantic meal.

Meanwhile, the collaboration of Anges de Sucre and Bluesky Flowers will ensure an extra sweet treat for your valentine if you opt for delicious artisan macarons alongside a voluptuous bouquet of the most fabulous flowers – a great treat to send to a special someone if you can’t be together on Valentine’s Day.

Finally, if you really don’t buy in to the whole commercialization of 14th February, then don’t worry. We’ve also found this piece on Anti-Valentine’s Day Cards to be both extremely amusing and extremely tempting. There are, after all, many different ways to say ‘I love you…’
