Classic Junior Cars & Fetcham Park’s History Collide at Heritage Open Day 2025
This year’s Heritage Open Day at Fetcham Park on Saturday 20 September attracted over 640 visitors. The Grade II* listed house opened its doors for a full day of exploration, welcoming guests from across Surrey and beyond to discover its rich history, elegant interiors, and landscaped gardens.
Visitors enjoyed a rare opportunity to explore the house’s most celebrated features, including the gold-leaf-adorned Salon and Shell Room, as well as the original Louis Laguerre murals, as seen at Blenheim Palace and Chatsworth where he also worked. Displays curated by local historian Vivien White provided a unique glimpse into the history of the house, built in 1705, and its gardens, originally designed by George London, a prominent garden designer and nurseryman of the early 18th century.

The day also included a special display by Junior Cars UK, showcasing a collection of meticulously crafted miniature vehicles that proved popular among families and car enthusiasts, adding a colourful new element to the event.
Visitors took advantage of the fine weather to enjoy picnics on the lawns and to visit neighbouring St Mary’s Church, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere in this historic corner of Fetcham Village.
Kate Ainsworth, house manager at Fetcham Park, said: “We were thrilled to welcome so many visitors this year, many for the first time. Heritage Open Day is a highlight in our calendar, and it’s always a joy to see so many people exploring the house and enjoying the gardens, and some sharing their own memories of the house. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success.”
