MEMORY LANE | Remembering Life at the House
We recently received a lovely note from the wife of an ex-boarder at Badingham College, the boys’ school at the House before it became known once again as Fetcham Park. The email recalled his happy days and fond memories of the headmaster and staff, and most of all the cook! Apparently, the young pupil would smuggle a chicken from the butcher into school and the cook would cook it and bring it up to the dorm in the evening – “little boys feasting on roast chicken. Imagine that!”
EXHIBITION | ‘Images That Caught My Eye’ by Joe Devanny
Photographer Joe Devanny, whose work can be seen at Parallel House, our business centre in Guildford, returns to the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall with a fresh collection capturing sights and moments during his recent photographic tour of New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Italy. Joe’s new collection is a take on the more unusual and quirky, together with his well-documented love for the Italian Classic Car world. The exhibition runs until Friday 27th September and Joe’s images are also available to buy with every one signed and authenticated by himself.
MOTORSPORT | Tyrrell Shed Saved By Goodwood
It’s no secret that we love cars and motorsport! So, it was music to our ears, that after 70 years, the Surrey shed that was Tyrrell’s first F1 factory has been saved from demolition thanks to Goodwood. It was from a humble wooden shed in Ockham, not far from Fetcham Park, that a handful of engineers conceived cars that conquered the racetracks in the hands of Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevert. The shed now stands restored on a prominent site at Goodwood and recently played an important part in the Revival display.
