Discover Perennial Exclusive Garden Tours – Horticultural Days Out for a Wonderful Cause
For garden lovers, there are few experiences more special than stepping behind the gates of some of Britain’s most beautiful private gardens.
That’s exactly what Perennial’s Exclusive Garden Tours offer – rare access to exceptional spaces, expert-led insights and the chance to support a truly worthwhile cause.
Local Charity, Nationwide Reach
As a charity with deep roots here in Leatherhead, Perennial has been supporting people in horticulture for nearly 190 years.
Founded in 1839 as the Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Society, it remains the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works with plants, trees, flowers and grass – from gardeners and grounds people to arborists and landscapers.
Today, Perennial provides vital services including financial assistance, mental health support, career advice, housing guidance and wellbeing services for those in, or retired from, the horticultural industry.
Exclusive Garden Tours to Book Now
One of Perennial’s most celebrated fundraising initiatives is its programme of Exclusive Garden Tours. These are far from ordinary garden visits. Guests enjoy private access to remarkable gardens that are often closed to the public, with tours led by owners, head gardeners or leading horticultural experts. Many include refreshments and lunch, making them immersive and memorable days out.
For those looking to book this summer and autumn, there are still several outstanding tours available from July onwards:
Wormsley Estate, Buckinghamshire | 9th July
A rare opportunity to explore the stunning 18th-century walled garden at this historic private estate in the Chiltern Hills. Restored with the involvement of renowned designer Penelope Hobhouse, the garden features rose gardens, pergolas and beautifully structured “garden rooms”.
Caisson Gardens, Somerset | 28th July
Featured on Gardeners’ World, Caisson Gardens offers a romantic blend of herbaceous borders, topiary, ponds, wildflower meadows and a productive walled garden. A brilliant example of regenerative gardening in action.
The Old Vicarage, Essex | 30th July
Join acclaimed garden designer Jeremy Allen for an intimate tour of this painterly, three-and-a-half-acre garden in Dedham Vale. Rich planting, clipped topiary and hidden garden rooms make this one a summer highlight.
Gardens of Putney Heath, London | 9th September
Two private gardens designed by Lucy Willcox, showcasing award-winning naturalistic planting and contemporary garden design.
Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Hampshire | 17th September
Hosted by Perennial Trustee Richard Lawton, this early autumn tour offers expert insight into one of the UK’s most respected horticultural collections.
