New Things For Winter
So, are you in a festive frame of mind? We hope you’re indulging in mulled wine, mince pies and all the other seasonal delights on a regular basis. If you find yourself a little worse for wear one morning, we can certainly recommend Fortnum & Mason’s Christmas Coffee as the ultimate reviver!
Anyway, on with our pick of the most wonderful new things for winter and as we just can’t say no to a good glass of champagne, we’re absolutely head over heels for the amazing Champagne Yurt from Wedding Yurts. Despite the chill outside, we’re picturing a warm summer day with guests languorously helping themselves from the yurt and what a fabulous centrepiece for any wedding.
Whilst we’re on the subject of showstopper centrepieces, you absolutely must take a look at the oh-so-luxe Sequin Collection from Pudding Bridge and The Little Wedding Helper. Can you just imagine these beautiful linens sparkling under candlelight in the golden Salon at Fetcham Park? We can and it’s making us sigh a little in happiness at the mere thought…
Another winter party season essential is, in our opinion, the tie-tying video tutorials by Martha Stewart. With black tie invitations aplenty over Christmas and New Year, can we make a request now that all pre-knotted black ties are disposed of forthwith? There is something rather special about a properly tied bow tie and guys, that moment at the end of the evening when you can pull your tie undone and leave it looped, James Bond style, around your neck is one that women everywhere just adore!
We always have our eyes open for the latest trends in sweet treats and we’ve certainly been wowed by macarons and marshmallows in 2013. For 2014, we’re moving onto the next letter of the alphabet and predict that nougat will be the in-favour wedding favour of the New Year. There are plenty of heavenly flavour combinations to enjoy and, if you’re a little crafty in the kitchen, nougat is an easy homemade gift for guests. One of our favourite recipes is Sweet Paul’s Nougat Blanc with Almonds & Pistachios. Honestly, who could say no?
If you make it through Christmas and the New Year sales without satiating your shopping desires, can we flag a few things you might want to take a look at? Firstly, we’ve had a sneak peek of French Sole’s new collections and their fabulous heart pumps will be available in huge range of new colour combinations. If you’d feel safer in flats for your first dance, these are the sweetest evening shoes we know. They’re also so easy to tuck in your suitcase for your honeymoon too and are perfect for newlyweds. Secondly, if you’re a vintage devotee, don’t forget that Sunbury Antiques Market is open right through January and February so check their diary and get there early for the pick of the treasures on offer. If you’ve not yet been along to this brilliant market, make this one of your resolutions for 2014!
With that, we’ll leave you to enjoy the build up to the holidays and, if you’re wondering what we’re hoping to find under the tree on Christmas morning, take a little look at Laura’s wish list on Love My Dress. Now, isn’t it beginning to look a lot like Christmas?
